ex-fet(fetus胎兒)-e
adj.衰弱的;無能力的 [Depleted of vitality, force, or effectiveness]
ex. the effete period of the baroque style.
字面上的意思為 ex- "out" + fetus "childbearing, offspring"
fetus可想稱生機,所以out of fetus表示沒有生機

effect n.效果、影響 (The drug has an immediate effect on the pain.)
effective adj.有效的 [Having an intended or expected effect]

effic-ient a.效率高的 [in the best manner with the least waste of time and
effort]
effic-iency n.效率 (Machines increase our work efficiency many times.)
effic-acy n.效力[power or capacity to produce a desired effect]
ex.這種藥藥到病除,efficacy is great.
這種"達成效果的能力"就是efficacy.
efficacious adj.能有效力的[capable of having the desired result or effect]
ex.efficacious medince to ease pain.
足夠讓疼痛減小的藥
effort n.努力 [The use of physical or mental energy to do something]
an effective method 一個能有效果(能產生影響)的方法 [have a effect]
an efficient method 一個高效率的方法 [have a effect
quickly]
an efficacious method 一個足以達成效果的方法 [強調 capble to have a
effect]
make an effort on 努力去做
have an effect on 對...有影響 = affect on
補充:
-ent = -ant : 可做形容詞尾或名詞尾
-ence = ance: 做名詞尾
-ency = -ence-y 不過意思上也等於 -ence
-ancy = -ance-y 不過意思上也等於 -ance
-acy: a suffix of nouns of quality, state, office, etc.
-acious: 為-acy, 或 -acity的形容詞型
