[問題]ScientificAmerican60s某一句話
不曉得在這問是否恰當,是有關句意的問題,昨天在聽完Scientific American 60s某篇文章
在讀內容時,不太了解某一段的內容.以下節錄其內容:
In the remains of a 5,300-year-old agricultural village, scientists found
eight bones that belonged to at least two cats. The date is 3,000 years
earlier than previous estimates of Chinese cat domestication.
The researchers analyzed human, cat and rodent bones. The size of the cats
indicates domestication, as they're smaller than their wild European
relatives. Isotopes showed that they had all eaten a fair amount of millet.
One of the cats lived to a particularly old age, while the other ate less
meat and more millet than a cat might prefer.
有問題的是倒數第二行開始,只看得懂前半句描述某隻貓活的特別久,接下來抓不太到後
半段想表達的意思,the other是單純指貓而已嗎? 後面的than a cat might prefer完
全不得其意.
雖然並沒有在準備GMAT,但平時也都有在訓練英文,目前在聽這60秒的文章時,只聽一遍
大概能了解其意(五六成左右),需要再讀了內容再重複聽才會抓到八九成,但有些像是
上面的內容,連看都不太懂了,這樣就算再聽幾次也是茫然.想請問有沒有比較有效的改
善方法.真的很想要增進自己的聽力.謝謝各位的回答!!
