[SC.]GMAT新制Sentence Correction出題的新趨勢
【從傳統文法形式（form）結構的窠臼中擺脫出來，把出題的重點放在全句的語意（
meaning）上。】
GMAT所考的句子更正（sentence correction）部分，每題所附的五個答案中，至少有一個
以上牽涉到與原句的句意不合，即改變原句的意思，這個答案當然立即摒棄不選。考生若能
領悟原句「真正」句意，面對選項就不再徬徨，不再困惑，立即掌握了得分之鑰，立即享受
得分之樂。最後，一定會發現考好GMAT這部分，並非難事，原有捷徑可循，那就是「七分句
意，三分文法修辭」。下面範例，取材於The Official Guide for GMAT Review（13th
edition）（694頁123題）。
123. Sales of wines declined in the late 1980s, but they began to grow again
after the 1991 report that linked moderate consumption of alcohol, and
particularly of red wine, with a reduced risk of heart disease.

此題5個選項的取捨，其重點在於有無辦法看懂「真正的」句意。至於修飾語誤置（
misplaced modifier），那是次要問題，暫時擱置。
你認為能夠減少心臟病風險的因素為何？
如果你認為是紅酒（red wine）減少心臟病風險，那就大錯特錯，因為只要紅酒一瓶在手，
每個人都能夠不發生心臟病嗎？只有酌量的喝紅酒(consumption of alcohol)這個動作，才
能減少心臟病的風險，所以只要是紅酒（red wine）減少心臟病風險的選項B.C.D.E.都不選
。
