In dispute of a pair of called strikes in the ninth inning of Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Rays at the Rogers Centre, Lawrie slammed his helmet on the ground. Lawrie dropped his bat and started to jog to first base when Miller issued the strike call. Lawrie paused on the baseline in a moment of disbelief before retreating to the batter's box. 第一球 Fernando Rodney's next pitch appeared to be high and outside, but as Lawrie again started his trot toward first, Miller rung him up for the strikeout. This time, Lawrie immediately turned back toward Miller, started shouting and slammed his helmet into the ground. 第二球 "That was not my intention at all," Lawrie said after the game about striking Miller with his helmet. "I've never, ever, done anything to go at an umpire before in my life, and I didn't mean to tonight. I apologize for that. It just kind of took an unlucky bounce and I think it got him, so my apologies for that."
