Mauer (mild pneumonia) done for season
Joe Mauer will miss the rest of the season due to a mild case of pneumonia.
A lost season for Mauer reaches a frustrating end. Limited to only 82 games
in 2011, the 28-year-old backstop batted just .287/.360/.368 with three homers
, 30 RBI and a .729 OPS over 333 plate appearances.
Though he could see more time at first or third base as soon as next season,
we have a hard time seeing him as a top-five catcher in mixed leagues at this
point.
