A Global Citizen
Vanness holds an American passport, likes Japanese food, has
made his mark in Taiwan, and with his popularity spanning across
China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, he is truly a global
citizen.
Vanness' brand of Western style isn't about looking the part
with peroxide blonde hair and blue contact lenses. Instead, it's
how it has been adopted in his personal philosophy. He has the
buoyancy and spark of a true-blue, American-bred citizen, and
doesn't feel the need to assert the Westermised side of him
through his mien.
Yet, despite being an America-born Chinese, Vanness doesn't
come across as the typical, brash young man who either cringes
or worships all things Asian to a comic effect. No, Vanness is
spared from this commercialised image makeover. Rather, he has
opted to stay true to his roots. Filial piety is something that
Vanness oozes, other than his confidence. " I do wish I have
more time for my family, " Vanness sighs audibly. " With this
album out now, it will be a drain on my time. But I do spend
time with my family whenever I get the chance. "
