[請益] 搞不懂這句~不曉得有沒有錯誤

事實上,短吻鱷的數量增加得非常快,以至於在某些地區必須定期補獵來限制短吻鱷
的數量

前面一句沒問題 但後面那句中的regulated是可以這樣用的嗎?
regulate不是有規範,取締的含意嗎
這句看了好幾遍 總覺得中文翻譯很怪 請教各位老師 感謝
