[考題] would、should的差別
國家考試104年地方特考四等考題(節錄)
At eighteen he was admitted to Trinity College at Cambridge University. He
had just completed his studies when the plague forced him to go back home. He
set off for the peace and quiet of his rural English birthplace, where he __43__

答案是A
想請問為什麼C不行？
是因為從句意上來說，這整件事發生在過去，所以用過去式的詞(先把B與D刪掉)
然後它是表示「將來」的意思，所以用will的過去式would這樣嗎？？
常常搞不清楚would should的用法，查詢網路資料，套進這題感覺都怪怪的@
