[文法] that前面的逗點＆關係子句還原(1/10更新)
大家好,請教一下兩個問題。

that當關係代名詞時，前面不是不能有逗點？可是查朗文詞典，卻有這樣的用法：
wick
1 the piece of thread in a CANDLE , that burns when you light it
2 a long piece of material in an oil lamp, that sucks up oil so that the lamp
can burn
以上兩個解釋的that前面都有逗號，文法該如何看待呢？謝謝。

後續自答：問另一位網友的意見如下
如果說語法，這個肯定是不對的，但是不排除字典的考量如下：
that引導的形容詞子句應該修飾thread；但是釋義畢竟力求準確詳盡，所以thread後面還
有一個in a candle修飾thread。
問題就來了，如果that連著candle就會讓讀者產生“形容詞子句到底修飾thread
還是candle”的疑問，所以，用逗號隔開了這種形容詞子句，
我覺得這是字典沒辦法的辦法。
大家平時寫的時候避免這種可能產生歧義的形容詞子句
（名詞1+介詞+名詞2+（,）which/that...）的用法吧
目前沒有好的解答，就當成是詞典特有的體例好了。

請問以下解釋用有到關係子句，若改寫為二句，可以這樣改嗎？
wick
a strip of material up which liquid fuel is drawn by capillary action to the
flame in a candle.

it’s a strip of material.
a strip of material draws up liquid fuel by capillary action to the flame in
a candle.
-----
如果可以的話，是否也能夠這樣合起來寫？
a strip of material which draws up liquid fuel by capillary action to the
flame in a candle.

1. a strip of material
2. liquid fuel is drawn by capillary action to the flame in a candle up the
strip of material.
