看起來也沒有使用關係代名詞 不太懂

一樣, stand和smell同時出現, 這去是把smell of stinky tofu當名詞？
可是這樣就覺得怪怪的, 語意上smell好像是動詞

這個as 不太懂用法

另外想問 我在查詢 compare to/ compare with用法時

裡面有說 compare當Vi時 只能用compare with 不能使用compare to
我的理解是 Vi後面不用接受詞, Vt一定要接受詞
他的舉例
當Vt時： The results are then compared to/with the results of previous studies.
當Vi時： It's a good university, but its architecture doesn't compare with
that of the older institutions.
可是我怎麼覺得兩個都是當Vt?
都是拿A跟B比
另外 that of, are then是啥用法？
