在BBC那篇文章裡的用法應該是當成距離的換算
因為原題目是:
During the last finacial year, how many kilometers did Tube trains
travel, in terms of trips to the moon and back?
去年間,倫敦地鐵所行駛的公里數可以來回月球多少趟?
所以a trip the moon and back 就是指從地球到月球來回一趟的距離
而 I love you to the moon and back 當副詞是一種比較誇飾的詩意用法
就像我們中文會說"愛你比海深..比天高"之類的....大概是這樣
想到Savege Garden野人花園的一首歌 歌名就叫 To the moon and back
