Advanced Digital Sciences Center (ADSC) is a university-related
organization affiliated with the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign established in 2009 for the conduct of research in
Singapore with founding funding from the Agency for Science,
Technology and Research (A*STAR). ADSC focuses on breakthrough
innovations in information technologies supporting interactive cyber
infrastructures that are expected to have a major impact in
transforming human’s use of information in a data-intensive
technological society.
We are looking for Software Engineers for the following projects:
Project Description:
Sensing, Analytics, and Privacy for Demand Response System
Responsibility:
ADSC is seeking a qualified and highly motivated applicant for SW
engineer in the smart grid group. The selected candidate will be
expected to build both a working prototype system and/or a
high-fidelity simulator for sensing, data analytics, and privacy for
demand response system that allows edge (e.g. buildings) of smart
power grid to autonomously optimize their consumptions. Our research
efforts will be focused on 1) Sensing occupants’ activities, energy
usages, and building environments in real time, 2) Data analytics for
learning underlying models of building energy consumption that would
predict and identify potential consumption cutback, 3) Algorithms/
statistical methods for assessing, optimizing, or compromising
tradeoff between privacy and information utility in smart meter data.
Requirements:
· B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering,
Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
· Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages:
C/C++, MATLAB,Python;
· Knowledge inembedded programming, signal processing, and
probability/ statistics highly desirable.
· Experience in system implementation with TinyOS,MySQL or Hadoop are pluses.
Project Description:
Integrative Security Assessment of Smart Grid Cyber Infrastructure
Responsibility:
The Integrative Security Assessment project at ADSC is a cutting-edge
research in cyber security. We are seeking qualified and highly
motivated applicantsto develop a security assessment tool for smart
grid cyber infrastructure. The tool will model the smart grid cyber
infrastructureand incorporate multiple sources of security-related
evidences, such assystem configuration, vulnerability database,
penetration test reports, and network simulation results. The tool
will implement new methodologies for combining these
heterogeneoussecurity evidences. It is intended to be used by
industrial practitioners for assessing the overall security of complex
smart grid cyber systems. The successful candidates will work
collaboratively with other team members to design and implement the
key algorithms and user interface for collecting and combining the
security evidences. For more information about this project, please
visit the following web page:

Requirements:
· B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering,Software Engineering, or related fields.
· Proficiency in C, C++, or java programming (experience in
alternative programming languages and/or software tools will be
considered on a case-by-case basis).
· Knowledge of computer and network security are highly desirable.
· Experience with system modelling and network simulators, or
knowledge of formal methods are pluses.
Project Description:
Reliable Cognitive Radio Networks
Responsibility:
The ReCognize project invites applications for a software engineer
position. The ReCognize project aims to guarantee various performance
metrics of a cognitive radio network in the presence of adversaries.
The selected candidate will be responsible in simulating and emulating
wireless networking protocols using software tools such as ns-2 or
MATLAB scripts as well as hardware tools such as USRP and WARP. The
position requires continual learning and encourages on-going academic
research.
Requirements:
· B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering,
Electrical Engineering, or related fields;
· Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages:
C/C++, Python, Perl, MATLAB, Verilog/VHDL;
· Knowledge in medium access control (MAC) in wireless networks;
· Knowledge in software defined ratio (SDR) and/or digital
communication systems highly desired.
Project Description:
Secure Cyber-Physical Critical Infrastructure
Responsibility:
The Secure Cyber-Physical Critical Infrastructure project invites
applications for a software engineer position. The project aims to
provide a decision support for cyber-physical critical infrastructure
protection. Game theoretic approaches are used to model the continual
interactions between different entities of an infrastructure to be
protected. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with other
members to derive algorithms to reduce the computational complexity of
the decision support. The position requires continual learning and
encourages on-going academic research.
Requirements:
· B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or
related fields;
· Proficiency in C/C++/C#, and MATLAB;
· Knowledge of computer and system security is highly desirable;
· Knowledge in game theory, dynamic programming, and/or probability
highly desired.
These research projects could potentially lead to a Master or PhD
thesis. ADSC is an equal opportunity employer. Salaries and benefits
will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and
experience. Singapore is a vibrant, technologically advanced,
and multicultural city state which consistently ranks at the top
worldwide for its high quality of life. If interested, please apply
through our website https://my.engr.illinois.edu/submit/ Applications
will be considered until the corresponding positions have been filled.
Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
