We're trying to essentially use a IC693CMM321 (Ethernet) as a replacement for
a IC693CMM311 (RS-232-C) communications module.
We wrote our own serial driver for the RS-232-C port on a PC in VB and it
works well but suffers from occassional communications errors and general
s-l-o-w operation.
We're trying to just upgrade from RS-232 to Ethernet and (hopefully) not have
to re-invent the wheel at the VB end of things.
We've successfully installed the CMM321 module and set up it's IP parameters
and we can PING it from any PC on our network.
Now what?
We've read GFK-1186/GFK-1541 but they don't seem to explain just how to read
%I/%Q/%R data from the PC.
In GFK-1541 it says that "No PLC programming is required for server
operation." but it doesn't mention HOW to read ANYTHING from the PLC.
I tried TELNETing to the module, no luck. Http and Ftp didn't work either.
All we really need is a *HINT* where to start.
