SEARCHING FOR MAURO SILVA'S REPLACEMENT

Depor Sport published the list of options that president Lendoiro is studying
in order to find a replacement for Mauro Silva. Three of the five names on
that list are playing in South America and the other two are already in
Spain. Of this five candidates Pablo Zabaleta seems like the main alternative
for Lendoiro. The name of Mallorca's goalkeeper Moya has been linked also
with Depor in the last few days.
According to Deportivo's newspaper Lendoiro has in his plans the signing of
two midfielders for the new season. The first one is Julian De Guzman and the
other is supposed to be chosen between the names of Gago, Zabaleta, Pablo
Garcia, Maldonado and Acciari.
1- Fernado Gago: (19) This Argentinean youngster is currently playing at Boca
Juniors, he is a defensive midfielder that's given a lot of comments in his
country. Gago has played 12 games in Torneo Apertura '05 and he was chosen
along with Abbondanzieri and Barros Schelotto as the three best players in
last weekend victory of Boca Juniors against River Plate (2-1). According to
Depor Sport the Argentinean club has offered the midfielder to Deportivo.
2.- Pablo Javier Zabaleta: (20) According to Depor's newspaper this is the
desired candidate of Lendoiro. The Argentinean wing-back plays in San
Lorenzo. Despite his age Zabaleta has a lot of experience since he has played
three seasons with San Lorenzo, he was also part of the U'20 squad of
Argentina that participated in the 2003 South American tournament played in
Uruguay. Reggina, Sampdoria, Villarreal and Espanyol are also interested in
him. His target price is around the €2 million.
3.- Pablo Garcia: (28) The Uruguayan veteran has been followed by Deportivo
in the last seasons and he has the experience desired by the Galicians. Known
for his tough tackles he also has a powerful shot from long distance. His
contracts ends in June 2006, but several rumors appoints that Barcelona and
Real Madrid are also interested in him. It's probable that he will not
renegotiate his contract and Osasuna will have to sell him in the summer.
4.- Claudio Maldonado: (25) The Chilean international was linked with
Deportivo and Real Madrid in the past. He is the current captain of Cruzeiro
in Brazil and his best characteristic is the ability that he has to organize
football in midfield. Labelled as the best No. 6 in Chile, Maldonado has a
lot of experience since he's a regular member of the national team in his
country and he also was part of the Olympic squad that won the bronze medal
in Sydney 2000.
5.- Jose Luis Acciari: (26) This former Estudiantes midfielder has been
playing at Murcia since 2001. It isn't the first time that Acciari has been
linked with Deportivo; in fact, a €2 million transfer deal was reached with
Murcia in July of 2004; however, the papers didn't arrive on time to la
liga's officials and the deal was canceled. The player himself has said that
he will like to join Depor in the near future.
MOYA COULD BE THE NEW GOALKEEPER OF DEPORTIVO
Miguel Angel Moya (21) has been linked with the Galician club in the last few
days. Rumors appoint that his target price is around the €5 million.
Sportpaper Marca wrote that a meeting between the presidents of Mallorca and
Deportivo occurred last weekend at Riazor. The result of this reunion could
be the transfer of the goalkeeper. Also, Moya said to Marca that he is happy
for been linked with Deportivo.
