Darvish news: Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish threw six scoreless innings
today for the Frisco RoughRiders in what is expected to be Darvish's final
rehab start prior to returning to the major leagues.
Darvish, who is currently on the disabled list, threw 87 pitches (56 strikes)
over 6 innings, striking out six, walking one, and allowing three hits.
Darvish said after the game that he feels ready to face major league hitters,
and he is currently slated to pitch Saturday night for the Rangers in Arlington
against the Pittsburgh Pirates,
Darvish has been working his way back from March, 2015, Tommy John surgery, and
will pair up with Cole Hamels to give the Rangers one of the most formidable
1-2 punches at the top of a rotation in the majors. Cesar Ramos, who has made
a couple of spot starts the past week-plus, is expected to move into a long
relief role while Darvish takes that spot in the rotation.

The RoughRiders made it easy for Darvish, score-wise, but an offensive outburst
in the first meant he was sitting in the dugout for quite some time. “In the
first couple of innings I was trying to put more effort into it, but since our
offense scored more runs it took a little bit longer in between innings, and I
got tired a little bit, too. It was kind of going nice and easy after the
second inning,” Darvish said.
Perhaps thanks to the long break after his first inning, Darvish didn’t have
his best command today, and he had to fight with the Texas League strike zone
on his fastball, and off the foul-happy Missions. However, his raw stuff had
the movement and velocity of his pre-Tommy John repertoire. He ran his fastball
up to 96 in the first two innings, and while that velocity didn’t hold, he
also was not relying on his fastball for outs in the final innings of this
outing, instead turning to the cutter and the sinker.
第一局投完之後，隊上火力全開，所以中間休息間隔太久，有點疲累
之後command也不是最佳狀態，但投出來的球跟手術前的幅度是一樣的
前二局速球達96mph，後面沒法一直持續扔就靠卡特跟伸卡球了
