You are by no means alone, but most of us find it reasonably tolerable
to use a small collection of scripts to let the computer do the drudge work.
(and log it).
Mine are rewritten to be generally 'shell neutral' for portability.
YMMV, but the project needs to focus on the 'least harm' aspect.
