Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf told WGN-Ch. 9 in an interview to be aired Sunday that he envisions the team's current nucleus to have staying power and that the team would try to re-sign restricted free agents Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry this summer. "I would assume they'd be back," Reinsdorf told sportscaster Rich King in an interview for "Instant Replay." "I wouldn't see why the top six or seven players on our roster wouldn't be together for the long term. I can see this nucleus staying together for 10 years." Reinsdorf lauded the job general manager John Paxson has done, pointing to how only Chandler and Curry remain from when Paxson took over for Jerry Krause. The chairman especially lauded Paxson's two drafts, which have netted t he Bulls Kirk Hinrich, Ben Gordon, Luol Deng and Chris Duhon. "Paxson has done an unbelievable job of remolding the team with winning guys," Reinsdorf said. Deng was acquired from Phoenix in a draft-day trade that cost the Bulls a conditional first-round pick. The Bulls' recent surge could make that pick merely a midlevel first-round pick, Reinsdorf said. Reinsdorf also praised coach Scott Skiles' ability and apparently is heeding Skiles' recent demands of the media to tone down talk of the playoffs. The Bulls are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. "I'm pleased the Bulls have turned the corner, but you can't get too excited yet," Reinsdorf said. "We've played 20 home games and [13] road games. But we're one year behind. I thought we had a playoff team last year. … I was real disappointed last season." -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.116.113.115
