if the stabilities you mentioned was the thermodynamic stabilities,
polydentate ligands generally bind to metal ions more stable than
the monodentate ones.
and MLCT is relevent to the donor nature of the ligand,
but not relevent to the number of the "anchors" that a liand used to
bite at the metal.
