They did consider ruling out one of the three bids when final offers first came in but decided against it. The plan remains to pick a preferred bidder from three rather than rule out a group first. Sources close to Steve Pagliuca say he's baffled at suggestions his bid will be rejected first. But his group have had to provide more detail on the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge than any other group. What makes the Boehly bid strong is Jonathan Goldstein (and other development-specific consultants) have provided a clear roadmap and cost. Broughton bid believe they have offered the most sustainable plan but it's still not as specific (yet) as Boehly's pitch. Raine deny any significant delays and still expect to name a preferred bidder by the end of the month. Meanwhile, DCMS again deny Rishi Sunak or any gov. member will pick or influence the preferred bidder. As expected, they reiterate their role is to license the sale.
