Chelsea's Fernando Torres could face longer ban for Jan Vertonghen clash

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres could find himself handed an extended ban
if the Football Association decides to act over his clash with Tottenham
defender Jan Vertonghen.
Torres was sent off in the 1-1 draw at Tottenham in the Premier League on
Saturday after he picked up two yellow cards. The first of those was for a
trip on Vertonghen, but referee Mike Dean took no action against the
Spaniard when he raised his hands to the defender immediately afterwards.
If Dean's match report confirms he did not see the incident, the video
will be passed to the FA's new independent disciplinary panel, who must
decide if the striker's actions constituted violent conduct. If the panel
so decrees, Torres will have his one-match ban - which he will serve when
Chelsea visit Norwich on Sunday - extended to four matches.

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres will not face retrospective action for
scratching Jan Vertonghen's face during Saturday's 1-1 draw with
Tottenham.
The Football Association reviewed the incident after the Spaniard was
captured on TV scratching the defender. But a match official had already
seen the players collide which means under FA rules no action can be
taken.
