The Blues travel to the north east tomorrow to take on Newcastle United,
with both sides in need of the points at respective ends of the table, and
after we allowed a lead to slip at Reading on Wednesday, Rafael Benitez is
looking for a positive reaction from his side...
== On squad news ==
With two players away on Africa Cup of Nations duty, two out injured and
another one ruled out through suspension, the manager has had to utilise
the full depth of his squad in recent weeks.
There was some welcome news ahead of tomorrow's game, however, with Juan
Mata, who picked up a knock in midweek, being passed fit, along with a key
player who has missed the last two games.
“馬塔已經恢復訓練了,切赫也一樣,他們都將進入本場比賽的名單。大衛˙路易茲
依舊在恢復,但不久之後他就會歸隊,而哈扎德在下場比賽時也將解禁復出。”

Following their fifth-place finish last season, expectations on Tyneside
ahead of the current campaign were understandably high.
However, thus far, it hasn't worked out in the way that manager Alan
Pardew would have hoped, although their first away win of the season,
which came earlier this week against Aston Villa, makes them a dangerous
proposition tomorrow.
“上賽季他們陣容完整,成績優秀,但本賽季卻無法保持水準這讓我有些驚訝。但如
今我們的陣中仍有不少優秀的球員,我相信他們可以做得很好。不過最好等到過了這
場比賽後再甦醒吧。上場對維拉的比賽他們發揮優異,因此他們也會為表現和成績感
到開心。在本場之後,如果他們再贏機場比賽,我相信他們會緩過勁來的。”

Meanwhile, Benitez was eager to praise two Blues full-backs for
achievements on the international stage.
If selected, Ashley Cole is in line to earn his 100th England cap in the
friendly against Brazil at Wembley next Wednesday, while Cesar
Azpilicueta has been called into the Spain senior squad for the first
time.
“我真心為阿什利感到高興,如果他上場,將達到國家隊百場,這是個了不起的成就
而阿茲皮利奎塔將加入到西班牙國家隊陣容中,這也是我們對他的培養目標。”
The disappointment of Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Reading is still fresh in
the memory of the manager, particularly the manner in which we conceded
the equaliser.
Tomorrow's match, however, is the ideal opportunity to get it out of our
system and return to winning ways, and with four players set to return to
action within the next few weeks, the manager remains optimistic.
'The mood was very good today,' explained the Spaniard. 'They trained very
well.
We have to move
forward and hopefully next time we can do better.
“如果你分析過所有沒有贏的比賽,就會發現本來都有機會獲勝。The team is
doing quite well considering some players are not here or are injured. We
have players coming back. David Luiz, as well as John Mikel Obi and Victor
Moses, while [Eden] Hazard will be available after the next game. We will
have more players, more options and hopefully in the next couple of months
we can maintain our consistency and keep winning games.'
The trip to St James' Park sees Demba Ba return to the club where he
scored 29 goals, including 13 this season, but Benitez has no concerns
over the striker's state of mind amid what could potentially be a testing
atmosphere.
“我認為他很自信只要能上他就能踢好,他在訓練中做得不錯,而且他是一名職業球
員,也明白有些球迷會不高興,但其他人也都明白這種情況,因此我相信他已經做好
了準備。”

BENITEZ: ENOUGH QUALITY
Posted on: Sat 02 Feb 2013
Having played 11 midweek fixtures in succession, the international break
takes over following our game at Newcastle United, and Rafael Benitez has
been weighing up both the positives and negatives of losing players when
they head off to represent their respective countries.
As a club with a host of high-profile, established names on our books,
international matches invariably mean we suffer as much, if not more, than
most.
'In a normal situation, if you have too many players going to play with
their countries, if they play too far away it's a problem, but it's
something you cannot change,' said the Chelsea manager.
'We have the Brazilians and English playing here, which is good, and
others playing around the world. But you have to manage the situation,
hopefully they will come back with no injuries. We have a lot of respect
for all the national managers and we know how important it is for them,
but at the same time we know how important it is for us.
'The international break is a negative because the players have to go away,
but also a positive because they will change their environment, and that's
something that maybe some of them need. They will come back with different
views and maybe if they score a goal, play well and win they will be happy.
If they lose, they will have an opportunity to change things here.'
After three successive draws, it's hugely important we come away from St
James' Park later today with a positive result.
A repeat of last season's scoreline in the corresponding fixture - when
the Blues ran out 3-0 winners - would no doubt be extremely welcome, and
the manager remains confident his side possess more than enough quality to
finish high in the table.
'We have to realise that the priority is to finish in the top four,' he
explained. 'You can't be looking at the table every week, you must have
confidence in your team, try to perform and if you win it will be easier.
'It's really important for the club with the money involved in the
Champions League, at the same time you can progress in other competitions
and win trophies that will be even better. I have confidence that we have
enough quality, and with the players we have coming back we'll have enough
options to win games in a row.'
Benitez also reserved a word of praise for Ashley Cole, who is set to
become only the seventh player to reach 100 caps for England in the game
against Brazil.
'Obviously 100 caps is an amazing number of games, so he has done
something well throughout his career,' said Benitez. 'He's a great player,
he's doing very well for us and hopefully he can do well for England for
years to come.'
