During a Thursday interview with 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich, Ainge fielded a question about whether his mentality has changed due to the Celtics' recent success or the potential vulnerability of Eastern Conference opponents. "I'm certainly aware of of our competition all around the East," Ainge replied. "It's not from a lack of desire to want to do a trade, but as an organization we have priorities and a plan. ... We're not looking for Band-Aids and we're not looking to give up future assets. We're trying to build something that is a little bit more sustainable than we are to rent a player." Some Celtics fans wondered why the team failed to make a move for Serge Ibaka before the Toronto Raptors acquired him. But in addition to the fact that he wouldn't have provided a huge upgrade over anyone in the rotation, Ibaka is set for free agency at the end of this season. "It's hard to give up two good young assets like Toronto did," Ainge said, "unless they really have an interest in re-signing him and making him a part of their core group going forward." "Everybody knows the assets that we have and the young players that we have," Ainge added in another part of the chat. "So I think that's the challenge. In any conversation we have the price is a lot because of what we have in the bank. So I think that's the challenge we're facing. And we're trying to stick to our plan. If a deal comes along where the price to add someone to the team who is more long-term as opposed to someone who is just the last 25 games of the season, we have more interest in that than we do in finding a Band-Aid." 安吉:我們不短視近利，租球員那種事我們不幹，我們目光得放長遠一點。 他真正的意思:請拿全明星或基石來談。 Though he knows the Celtics need more rebounding and rim protection, Ainge pointed out the team thrives largely because of how many skilled players share the court at the same time. There would be a tradeoff in most cases to adding a more physical interior presence. "You can't just put a rebounder that can't shoot out on the court because it might provide a little bit of help on the rebounding end, but it takes away from what our strength is on the offensive end," Ainge said. "We know what our weaknesses are. We'd like rim protection and rebounding.
