There remains a good deal of uncertainty of just how things will go. But Murphy is happily certain of one thing: His traditional spring schedule will be altered immeasurably. He is a lock to be part of the playoffs for the first time in his career. After nine years of unlacing his game sneakers for the summer at the end of the regular season, Murphy is looking forward to extra hoops “Very much so,” he said before the C’s 89-83 win against the Bucks last night. “I’ve never been in the playoffs, and I’m excited to take part in all that. “That’s why I wanted to come to the Celtics, because of the postseason. That was the whole idea, to come to a team that was trying to make a long playoff run.” The same belief is held in Miami, and the Heat also went hard after Murphy. But he chose the Celts, hoping to play a role in a championship season. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Murphy had just a .389 winning percentage through the first 640 games of his career with the Warriors, Pacers, Nets and now Celtics. The only active player with a lower winning percentage is Jamal Crawford, who, as of Thursday, was at .371 with the Bulls, Knicks, Warriors and Hawks. Murphy was on some bad teams in Golden State, and he was part of the rebuilding project in Indiana when the Pacers still were trying to pick up the pieces from the infamous brawl with the Pistons. He was in the deal as the Pacers got Stephen Jackson out of town. In New Jersey, he was caught in another rebuilding situation, where the club was going young. It all added up to a lot of down time for Murphy. “You have a long summer,” he said. “You know, your summer is from April until the end of September. You can do pretty much whatever you want. “You just watch playoff games pretty much is what you do. That first week or two, you watch every playoff game because they’re on every night. And then as the playoffs go on, you want to watch even more because it’s getting closer and closer to the championship.” Murphy still is looking for his first bucket in a Celtics uniform. He missed his two shots from the floor in 15 minutes of action last night — making him 0-for-9 so far — but he did hit two free throws, grab four rebounds and dish out two assists. “Right now, I’m just (trying to) pick everything up and get acclimated to the way they do things around here,” Murphy said. “But I’m looking forward to (the playoffs). I’m really looking forward to it.
