announced Donyell Marshall will be out 6-8 more weeks after receiving a co
rtisone shot in his injured right wrist.Add that to a new left ankle injur
y to forward Cedric Simmons, a mild sprain that might cost him all four ga
mes this week, and the Cavs are left with virtually no depth behind starte
rs Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Drew Gooden. And signs point to the team rolling
the dice as no trades or player pickups appear imminent.

Spanish newspaper Marca last week quoted a source close to Varejao as
saying he is close to ''giving up'' signing with the Cavs this season. Wha
t that means isn't clear — whether he'll follow through with threats to s
it out the season or sign to play in Europe. Either way, the Cavs maintain
his rights next summer.Varejao's decision to delay signing could end up co
sting him lots of money even if he eventually comes to terms with the Cavs
. The team could pro-rate the contract and dock him pay for missing games.
If he were to sign for the roughly $6 million the Cavs are believed to hav
e on the table for this season, he technically would already be out about
$920,000, which is about what he made all last season. Of course, that's a
ll negotiable.
不管Varejao本季會不會回來，下一季開始時騎士還是有他的交涉權。他的僵持已
經造成自身金錢上的損失，就算現在答應騎士的六百萬合約，由於缺賽過久，騎士本
季可以少付他九十二萬美金，這筆被扣掉的錢比他去年的薪水還多。
