Maybe the track is cool and dry, and he is at his best when it's muddy. Maybe he's feeling a little sore or a little tired. Maybe the jockey doesn't u nderstand him. Maybe the saddle doesn't fit quite right. You may not have done as well as you expected with a recent effort, but that doesn't mean you weren 't (and aren't) the best person for the job. Keep trying.
