1. Use the rectangular method to approximate the area of the ellipse with
boundary X^2+2*Y^2=1 to 4 correct decimal digits.
3. Find the least squares soultion of the system.
X1+X2 = 1,
X1-X2 = 3,
4X1+X2 = 2.
4. For the system shown below, compute [A^(2) | b^(2)] and [A^(3) | b^(3)]
Then backsubstiute to find the solution of the system.
X1+X2+2*X3 = 3,
3*X1-X2+2*X3 = 2.5,
X1+2*X2-4*X3 = -1.
5. Suggest a stable method for computing c =Sin X / X for small x and explain
why.
6. Find the first three terms of the Taylor expansion of ln(x) about x=1.
