Barry Zito makes Prince Fielder pay, kind of, for home-run celebration
Prince Fielder ignited a debate within baseball with his inventive
celebration after hitting a walk-off home run against the Giants last
September. After Fielder stomped on home plate, his gathered teammates
collapsed as if struck by a bowling ball.Prince Fielder garnered a lot
of SportsCenter time with this inventive home run celebration last year.
He paid for it, sort of, today.

The reverberations lasted for days.
Said Giants reliever Bobby Howry:
"What he did isn't acceptable. It's not only lack of respect for
the other team, but the game. It won't be forgotten, I guarantee you."

Thursday, the Giants showed they didn't forget.

Fielder was plunked in the back on the first pitch he saw from Giants
starter Barry Zito in Thursday's Cactus League game, but Fielder may
have got the last laugh, too, by his reaction.

Rather than sneer or pout, Fielder calmly tossed the ball back to Zito,
as if to say, Is that all you got?

As Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel tweeted,
Fielder "has been bitten by mosquitoes harder than that pitch."

UPDATE, 6:13 p.m.: Says Zito, copping to nothing: "My fastball
was running in and it just got away from me."

So perhaps that puts to rest the Giants-Fielder dust-up.
