TMDC is a pseudo-annual demo-making contest held over the internet. TMDC10 is
yet again organized by tAAt ry, registered non-commercial organization in
Finland, which aims to promote demo-making culture.
TMDC是一個"名義上每年一次"的demo片製作比賽
(註: pseudo-annual...因為這個活動不見得每年只舉辦一次...XDD)
今年本活動再次由tAAt ry所舉辦。他們是在芬蘭的一個登記非營利組織,
當初即為展示片製作文化的進步而成立。
Text mode demos offer unique challenges for the demo maker which play a very
insignificant role in other kinds of demo competitions. First of all,
resolution and color spaces are rather limited, forcing the demo authors to
consider different forms of anti-aliasing and careful adjustment of contrast
and color balance.
文字模式展示片提供了製片者獨特的挑戰，在其他種類的展示片競賽中，
這些元素通常都扮演著很不顯眼的角色。首先，解析度和顏色都非常受限，
迫使製片者必須考慮不同的反鋸齒方式，並小心調校對比與色彩平衡。
Additionally the demo authors will not have any hardware-assisted rendering,
forcing them to create their own rasterization methods, while giving them a
huge amount of CPU power per pixel. Things like per-pixel real-time
raytracing are a realistic choice in text mode demos.
另外，製片者沒有任何硬體支援，他們只好大量使用CPU運算並實作自己的繪圖方法
(註: rasterization更正確地說，是指顯示卡在成像時，用來填pixels的演算法
通常翻成"掃描"不過我不太喜歡就是了...)
像素層級的即時光跡追蹤之類的方法將是文字模式展示片的理想選擇。
