1st rd #6 Jacob Wilson Grand Canyon University (AZ) SS R/R 4YR JR 6' 3" 190lbs DOB:03/30/02 BA National Rank:9 Signed for/Slot money: $5.5M/$6.634M MLB.com: https://www.mlb.com/video/2023-draft-jacob-wilson-ss Scouting grades: Hit: 65 | Power: 50 | Run: 50 | Arm: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 55 Wilson played his high school ball at Thousand Oaks High School in California, playing for his father, former big league All-Star Jack Wilson. Jacob went on to Grand Canyon University and was named a freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball in 2021. He was even better in 2022, finishing with a 1.004 OPS as a sophomore before raising his profile even more over the summer with a solid stint in the Cape Cod League and then Team USA. Wilson, whose dad followed him to Grand Canyon and is an assistant coach this season, has an intriguing combination of baseball IQ and tools. He might be one of the better pure hitters in the class, one who consistently finds the barrel and struck out just seven times in 275 plate appearances as a sophomore. He’s starting to tap into his power more consistently as well, smashing 12 homers and slugging .585 in 2022. A fringy-to-average runner, Wilson has the skills to stick at shortstop, with good actions, range and an above-average arm. He might not have the pure power profile should he have to slide over to third, where he played as a freshman, but scouts feel he’ll hit plenty for the hot corner. That makes him a prime candidate to go near the top of the first round. He had the lowest strikeout rate among qualified college hitters in 2022 at a microscopic 2.8%, and only swung and missed 18 times during his junior year. He posted a whopping 10-to-1 ball-in-play-to-whiff ratio during the 2023 college season and ended his college career hitting .361/.419/.558. A lot of Wilson's contact is incredibly light and on the ground. He is rail thin, especially throughout his forearms, and he needs to get stronger to withstand the day-to-day grind of pro ball, let alone have any kind of big league power. But Wilson has fantastic vertical barrel accuracy, flattening his path to impact pitches at the top of the zone and dipping to scoop low ones, which he often drives the other way. He can poke pitches on the outer edge to the opposite field, but does most of his extra-base damage to his pull side. He may only ever have a one-note offensive profile but it's the most important note, a very loud note, and that's usually enough to play shortstop, where Wilson has become very good over the last year. He's rangy, acrobatic and has a surprisingly strong arm for such a skinny guy. His floor is that of a light-hitting utility guy in the Kevin Newman mold, but Wilson's bat will probably be special enough to carry him to an everyday role. https://www.thebaseballcube.com/content/player/230468/ age AB H 2B 3B HR SB CS BB SO avg obp slg 2021 Grand Canyon WAC 19 182 57 11 0 4 1 0 17 19 .313 .376 .440 2022 Grand Canyon WAC 20 246 88 18 1 12 0 1 25 7 .358 .418 .585 2023 Grand Canyon WAC 21 192 79 17 4 6 8 1 19 5 .411 .461 .635 https://gculopes.com/sports/baseball/stats/2023/pdf ---------- 1st rd #39 Myles Naylor St Joan of Arc Catholic SS (ON) 3B R/R HS SR 6' 2" 195lbs DOB:04/15/05 BA National Rank:66 Signed for/Slot money: $2.2025M/$2.2025M MLB.com: https://www.mlb.com/video/2023-draft-myles-naylor-3b Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 55 | Run: 45 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 50 It’s time for the third and final Naylor brother to come through the Draft pipeline. Oldest brother Josh went No. 12 overall in 2015 and middle brother Bo went No. 29 in 2018. Whether Myles can make the Naylors just the second brother trio to all be first-round picks, joining the Drews, remains to be seen, though the Canadian prepster is definitely on radars after a solid summer, especially at the Area Code Games. Many scouts see Naylor, the lone right-handed hitter among the brothers, as somewhere between Josh’s raw power and Bo’s pure hitting ability when they were coming out. The youngest Naylor has a good swing, showing both strength and bat speed to go along with good extension and follow-through. There’s raw power, particularly to his pull side, that has yet to show up in games and he can struggle with breaking stuff, leading to some swing-and-miss. There's a little less polish here than there was with Josh and Bo in their Draft years. An average runner now who likely will slow down as he matures, Naylor has played shortstop in high school, but will move to third base at the next level, where his hands and strong arm should work just fine. The Texas Tech recruit is getting the chance this spring to really emerge from his brothers' formidable shadows. Like the other Naylors he has plus bat speed, but his front side is often high through contact and he lacks barrel feel. There's big hit tool risk here but enough power to profile as a third baseman if it turns out Naylor can hit. https://www.thebaseballcube.com/content/player/315650/ age AB H 2B 3B HR SB CS BB SO avg obp slg ---------- 2rd rd #41 Ryan Lasko Rutgers (NJ) OF R/R 4YR JR 6' 0" 190lbs DOB:06/24/02 BA National Rank:75 Signed for/Slot money: $1.7M/$2.0949M MLB.com: https://www.mlb.com/video/2023-draft-ryan-lasko-of Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 50 | Run: 55 | Arm: 60 | Field: 55 | Overall: 45 Rutgers University in New Jersey has developed some good hitters -- albeit sporadically -- over the years, with Todd Frazier and David DeJesus the most recent and most successful. Lasko, a starter from the get-go for the Scarlet Knights in 2021, had a big sophomore season, and while his overall numbers over the summer at Team USA trials and in the Cape Cod League were modest, he finished strongly on the Cape and showed off some of the offensive traits that make him an intriguing college bat to follow. A right-handed hitter, Lasko is strong and gives off a blue collar toughness vibe, while also showing off above-average athleticism. He has the chance to hit, and with plenty of raw power to tap into. His overall solid approach helped him get to that power last spring, as he hit 16 homers and slugged .643 for Rutgers. He struggled a bit more with making contact and recognizing pitches -- particularly spin -- over the summer, leaving some to worry about future swing-and-miss issues. With above-average speed, Lasko runs well enough to steal a base and has a good chance to stick in center field. He also has a plus arm, which would fit in well with his power profile in an outfield corner if needed. While Echavarria doesn’t quite look like an opening-round arm just yet, appearances at the Area Code Games and the WWBA World Championships have put him much more firmly on the map, with strong performances this spring moving him further up Draft boards. A 6-foot-1 right-hander, Echavarria does have an intriguing combination of present feel for pitching and projection of his stuff, with a potential four-pitch mix. While he’s been described as having “sneaky” velocity in the past with his fastball, up to 93-94 mph consistently, he had gained a tick early this spring, consistently hitting 96 and touching 98 mph. He misses a good amount of bats with it thanks to its ride up in the zone, and he also can throw a 92-93 mph two-seamer down in the zone, with more consistent velocity to come as he matures. He’s shown two distinct breaking pitches, with both the slider and curve usable offerings, the sweeping slider perhaps a bit more effective. They can blend at times, and some scouts like it better when it has more of a curve-like shape to it. He shows feel for a low-80s changeup as well. Especially for a prep arm in a cold-weather state, Echavarria shows off very good pitchability and can throw all of his pitches for strikes. He reminds some area scouts of eastern Pennsylvania product Michael Morales, a 2021 third-round pick of the Mariners who got second-round money to sign, and it’ s not hard to envision Echavarria, a Florida recruit, going in the same vicinity. Echavarria's breaking ball is nasty. His height and slot make it so that pitch is only ever descending; it doesn't float up out of his hand in an identifiable way. It's a plus weapon in the upper-70s and is going to be a big league out pitch. His changeup might be, too. He barely uses it right now, but Echavarria flashed plus mid-80s changeups on the showcase circuit in 2022. His fastball strikes are inconsistent and sometimes Echavarria spins on the heel of his front foot as it catches his motion, and he loses his line to the plate. It's pretty typical for pitchers with levers this long to scatter their fastballs at this age, and Echavarria's control is fine enough to project him as a starter. His frame is projectable on paper, but I'm inclined to round down on his fastball growth a little bit. This isn't a broadly built 6-foot-4 guy; he's 6-foot-1 with narrow, rounded shoulders. If he can simply maintain the low-to-mid-90s heat under a pro load of innings, that will be a win. Likely to get seven figures on draft day, Echavarria is a fairly typical prep arm with a good breaking ball and a shot to pitch in a big league rotation over time. https://www.thebaseballcube.com/content/player/315631/ age W L ERA G GS IP H R ER HR BB SO 2020 Var 16 5 2 2.76 10 10 53.1 49 26 21 0 23 52 2021 Var 17 6 2 1.79 10 5 39 23 24 10 0 28 50 2022 Var 18 8 1 0.42 9 8 50 21 7 3 1 14 80 https://www.maxpreps.com/nj/millburn/millburn-millers/athletes/steven-echavarria/baseball/stats/?careerid=aqa23a4nkht99 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc), 來自: 111.71.82.24 (臺灣) ※ 文章網址: https://www.ptt.cc/bbs/Athletics/M.1698035880.A.B32.html
