Doolittle also had team options for 2019 and 2010. However, Madson is 36, and Doolittle has been on the disabled list five times in his five-plus seasons. Beane suggested that a change of scenery might help Treinen, who worked with A's pitching coach Scott Emerson and bullpen coach Garvin Alston while in Oakland's system.
