Aston Villa won the FA Youth Cup for the first time since 2002 after beating Liverpool 2-1 at Villa Park. The Young Lions made a dream start when Ben Chrisene picked out the bottom corner with a fierce drive in the opening minutes. Backed by a passionate home support, Villa doubled their lead in the 11th minute when Brad Young, who was felled in the box, coolly converted from the penalty spot. Reds substitute Melkamu Frauendorf set up a grandstand finish with a goal after 73 minutes, but Villa, competing in their first Final of the prestigious competition since 2010, held on to secure the club’s fourth FA Youth Cup. Villa made one change from the starting XI that beat West Bromwich Albion 4-1 in the Semi-Final, bringing Chrisene in for Kahrel Reddin. And the 17-year-old, who joined from Exeter in the summer, gave his side the dream start with only seven minutes on the clock. Arjan Raikhy did well to keep the ball in play on the byline before picking out the unmarked winger on the edge of the box. Chrisene took one touch before drilling a left-footed effort into the bottom corner, much to the delight of the vocal home fans. Liverpool, who’d started confidently, suddenly looked rattled, and they handed the hosts a glorious chance to extend the lead from the penalty spot when Billy Koumetio tripped Young. The striker picked himself up and took a deep breath in front of the Holte End before passing the ball into the corner at the end of a stuttering run-up. As the confidence surged through Villa, they almost gave Liverpool a route back into the game by overplaying at the back, leading to Mateusz Musialowski blazing over when he should have scored. Louie Barry and Carney Chukwuemeka ensured the chances kept coming for the home side, with another Chrisene drive smacking against a post, but they were content to go in at the break with a two-goal lead - taking their tally in this season's competition to an impressive 28 goals. Max Woltman fired an early warning shot just wide at the start of the second half before Villa quickly settled into their rhythm. The hosts were hunting a third goal and only a fine save from Harvey Davies denied Chukwuemeka from close range. A rising star after making his Premier League debut last week, the midfielder then danced his way past a couple of defenders before teeing up Young, who could only slice his effort wide. Despite the miss, Villa’s No.9 wasn’t giving the Liverpool defence a moment’s peace and he forced a smart save from Davies with just under 20 minutes to play. Those missed chances came back to haunt the hosts when Frauendorf, a half-time substitute, handed his side a lifeline, volleying home from a corner. The setback did little to alter the flow of the match, with Villa creating another golden opportunity for Aaron Ramsey, who drew a spectacular reaction stop from Davies when he looked destined to score. With Filip Marschall claiming every cross and saving every shot at the other end as the nerves rose around Villa Park, Raikhy came close to sealing the win as the game moved into stoppage time. However, it mattered little as Villa held on for an historic victory, with jubilant scenes at the final whistle as the Young Lions went on to lift the trophy on home soil. https://reurl.cc/ZGa0D6 希望下個賽季開始可以把這些小朋友們租出去練練等 ----- Sent from JPTT on my Google Pixel 4 XL.
